The deputy fire chief in Terrace has now been promoted to Chief.

Joel Brousson has replaced Chief Chad Cooper, who had been in the role since June 2023.

Brousson previously worked for the Lacombe Fire Department in Alberta from 2012 to 2020.

In 2020, he joined as a volunteer firefighter with the Terrace Fire Department, while working as Emergency Program Coordinator for the Kitsumkalum Band.

He started with the city of Terrace as Deputy Fire Chief in October 2023.

In addition to his fire training, Brousson holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology and has experience working in the area of Mental Health and Addictions.

The City of Terrace says they will aim to fill the Deputy Fire Chief position in the new year.
