On October 19, 2024, just past midnight, Terrace RCMP observed a white pickup truck driving with no tail lights on and demonstrating irregular driving behavior.
The officer initiated a traffic stop with the pickup which was being driven by a female and occupied by two other passengers. The driver exhibited signs of impairment and was detained for an impaired investigation. When the woman exited the vehicle additional drug paraphernalia was observed inside the car.
All three occupants of the pickup were arrested for possession of a controlled substance and a search of the vehicle followed. Located within the pickup was suspected fentanyl, and additional drug related items, as well as various weapons including bear spray, throwing axes, swords and ammunition. All three occupants of the vehicle denied ownership of the items which were seized to be disposed of.
The woman was determined to be impaired by a controlled substance and was issued a 24-hour driving prohibition and violation tickets including no drivers licence. The vehicle was towed from scene and two of the occupants chose to depart the scene on foot, while the other who was intoxicated was taken to Terrace cells until sober.
