The paint is going on and preparations are underway to transform the Terrace Little Theatre into a 1950's radio station.

The theatre will be putting on "It's a Wonderful Life: On Air", a Canadian stage reinvention of the 1947 movie story that has actors presenting the show as a period radio broadcast.

Director Marianne Brørup Weston says attendees can expect to be entertained, as the show features songs, live sound effects, and holiday jingles.

“So you're going to get an interesting experience where you sort of, you have actors playing other actors and you have  a trained artist doing all the sound effects for us, steps, or the shoes on stairs, bells ringing, guns going off, car engines, all kinds of sound effects that are all done with all kinds of various objects.

So that becomes, a play within a play itself. What's happening with the sound effects. And then you have the music, the piano and the singers. So there's a lot going on. It’ll be very entertaining. And then it's A Christmas Story, one of the most beloved films ever."

 Stage manager Amy Bolton says this show has very different aspects than the group’s last production, ‘One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest’.

“So this is going to be a lot different because we don't have as many backstage parts. It's all on stage. So planning all of that has been interesting and lots of fun.”

The audience can expect live sound effects and music. Director of Music Robin Hollett says the audience will get a fun variety of music;

“The jingles have a familiar ring to them. So all the little commercial jingles, you'll go, oh. I think I've heard that before. They're just fun and upbeat. I have the privilege of working with Karen Shaw-Carter and Amber Zanon and Amanda Ramsay as our three female singers who are sort of going after ‘Andrews Sister’ style to fit in with the time period.”

Brørup Weston says the audience can expect to be included;

“So it's a very, kind of immersive experience. The audience comes in and actually becomes, quite involved in being, being an audience.”

The show runs on various dates between November 28th and December 15th at 7pm, as well as a 2pm Sunday matinee option, and is family friendly.
