The Kitimat ER was closed again yesterday for 14 hours, from 5pm Tuesday to 7am Wednesday morning.

This is the 10th time this emergency room has closed for the night since August 1st.

The reason cited was staffing shortages.

When this happens, residents of Kitimat who need life-threatening emergency care (i.e chest pains, difficulty breathing, or severe bleeding) should call 9-1-1 for transport to the nearest available and appropriate facility.

For non-urgent care, call the Northern Health Virtual Clinic at 1-844-645-7811.

If you aren't sure if you need the emergency room, or need advice, dial 8-1-1 to speak with a nurse at Healthlink BC.
