PRINCE RUPERT, B.C. -- All LNG Canada staff are required to be fully vaccinated by November 30th, 2021, according to a statement from the company released yesterday afternoon.

LNG Canada says the deadline for providing proof of vaccination is timed to meet the travel requirements announced yesterday by Transport Canada.

“We believe the B.C. Provincial Health Officer’s recommendation that workers at industrial sites such as ours be required to demonstrate proof of vaccination is the right thing to do,” reads the statement.

“We will recommend that project contractors adopt the same mandatory vaccination requirement for their workers.”

Detail about how the program will be implemented are currently being developed and will be communicated to staff, stakeholders and community members.

“We are committed to protecting workers, community and project from COVID‑19, and to reduce the risk of infection in all areas of our operations and activities. As always, our approach is aligned with direction from public health authorities who view vaccination as a priority.

The news of the mandatory vaccination requirement comes as LNG Canada says it has passed the 50 per cent completion mark on its project.
