When the writ drops on September 21st, Ellis Ross will no longer be the Skeena MLA. However Ross says he has recieved approval from the government to keep the constituency office open during the election.

"The election is October 19th, which I will not be running in. But the office we all talked about and just said, for all the people still need help. Government programs, this office needs remain open at least a transition period, depending on who are next."

The office typically serves community members who have questions or concerns in regards to government programs.

"Normally we help with government programs. So if you have issues with, say, ICBC, for example, or Ministry of Highways or anything to do with a landlord-tenant relationship, anything that's got to do with a government program."

With Ross not seeking re-election, the race is between Conservative candidate Claire Rattee and NDP candidate Sarah Zimmerman.
