Police in New Hazelton are investigating after a woman was shot during a home invasion.

At about 2 a.m. on Jan. 16th, RCMP responded to a report of a home invasion that said three suspects armed with firearms had gained entry into a home at the 2100 block of 23rd Ave.

Police found numerous people in the house, who said the suspects fled the scene before they arrived.

She was taken to hospital; her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

"This incident appears to be targeted and we don’t believe there is any further risk to the general public," he said.
