One of the main instructors at Atlantis Taekwondo in Terrace, Cody Skog, recently made his way up to Richmond in order to corner one of his friends and student in his first ever amateur kickboxing bout.
Skog then went onto relay a bit about how the fight went and how he felt about the idea of doing more corner work;
“It was a great match with back and forth exchanges and a couple of beautiful spinning backs. A little influence from taekwondo, which is awesome. We got our foot in the door for amateur kickboxing bouts and we’re looking forward to the next one.”
The fight took place under the banner of All Martial Arts and while Leon Heidel ended up losing a split decision, it wasn’t due to a lack of preparation as Skog mentioned that he does more than just his own training at Atlantis Taekwondo;
“He teaches boxing at Atlantis. He’s a great guy, disciplined, knows his stuff really well. So if anybody wants to try us out, we have boxing that he teaches, we have kickboxing and taekwondo as well.”
Heidel is said to plan on competing again at some point in the future and Skog also said that others who train at Atlantis might be willing to give it a shot as well.
