Blue Lagoon Resources recently confirmed that they are starting up their active mining operations at their Dome Mountain Gold Project located near Smithers after getting their first delivery of blasting material.
Blue Lagoon’s President and CEO Rana Vig expressed how he and his company are feeling now that they’ve gotten to this point in the project’s lifecycle;
“We’re excited to work with the local community and the First Nations as we develop and increase production and make this a very viable and socially responsible project. I think you’re going to see this be one of the best projects in this province over the coming years.”
And in another interview prior to production starting up, Vig also explained that the mine’s production would be not been conducted in definitively set work periods;
“The mines site is certainly accessible year round, so we have no limitations there. There may be a short break for Christmas or New Years depending on staff and what they want to do. But we expect to be running pretty much year round.”
One of the final processes that needed to be completed before the start of production was the installation of a required water treatment plant.
Vig then went onto describe how it works and why it’s needed;
“We built our water treatment plant well over the required capacity that we need to treat the water. When there is blasting and in the natural process of mining, there’s elements that enter into the water. The water treatment system is a state of the art system designed by one of the best water specialists in the country. It’s designed to make sure that the water we’re discharging is clean.”
Blue Lagoon is expected to release a quarterly report on how the mine’s production is going before the end of this year.
