Prince Rupert Carnival Tragedy Leaves One Worker Dead

The City of Prince Rupert has confirmed that an incident resulting in a fatality happened last night at a local carnival.

And RCMP say on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at 10:40 pm, Prince Rupert RCMP responded to a report of an injured man at the Prince Rupert Summer Carnival.

A man was located unconscious near one of the rides. Despite efforts of EHS the man was later pronounced deceased.

Shooting Star amusements released this statement online:

“It is with great sadness to report that after a tragic incident on Tuesday evening involving a dear close friend , co-worker, great man we will not be open on Wednesday or Thursday in Prince Rupert. Refunds for pre purchased all day ride passes will be given.”

The RCMP are assisting in the investigation along with Work Safe BC and BC Coroners Service. Any further inquiries should be directed to them.

The City stated that anyone who is deeply affected by this tragedy can visit Victim Services counsellors and support staff at the Civic Centre auditorium between 1 and 4 PM today.
