The City of Prince Rupert put out a notice to let everyone in their jurisdiction know that they have put a Boil Water Notice into effect and it will stay in place until further notice.
The main given reason for the notice being activated is because several laboratory tests have indicated that there is coliform bacteria in their drinking water, which can cause serious illness in some cases.
During the time that the notice remains active, residents must boil their water for about a minute before cooling and then placing in it a food grade storage container.
The City also stated that they are working with Northern Health to get this notice lifted as soon as they possibly can.
