City of Terrace paying for Kenney Street crossing repairs

(City of Terrace)

During a City Council meeting from earlier this month, the City of Terrace agreed to fund maintenance on the railway crossing at Kenney Street.

Although the City was not eager to give CN Rail an estimated $182,000 needed for the maintenance, the two parties signed an agreement all the way back in 1979 that mandates that Terrace pay for any maintenance that the crossing may need.

Terrace Mayor Sean Bujtas was not pleased with the fact that the City was required to do this, saying that $182,000 is nothing to CN Rail, but to Terrace, it’s a lot of money.

While the recommendation was still approved, Mayor Bujtas also said that he’d be discussing this agreement with higher levels of government.
