Head-on crash on Highway 37 claims one life

From the Kitimat RCMP: Police are investigating after a head-on collision claimed the life of a passenger Monday afternoon.

On June 29, 2026, at 4:07 p.m., the Kitimat RCMP received a report of a motor vehicle incident on Highway 37, about 25 km north of Kitimat. Officers attended and determined that a northbound Toyota 4Runner collided head-on with a southbound Honda Ridgeline.

Both drivers, a man from the Honda Ridgeline and a man from the Toyota 4Runner, sustained serious injuries and were transported to hospital for treatment.

Tragically, a woman from Terrace, who was a passenger in the Honda Ridgeline, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“The investigation is in its infancy, and causal factors are not yet known,” said Staff Sergeant Graham Morgan of the Kitimat RCMP. “We are seeking anyone who may have witnessed the driving behaviour leading up to the collision, as well as anyone with information or video footage of the incident itself.”
