Towards the end of last week, the District of Kitimat issued a statement saying that they’re placing their water system under a water quality advisory due to elevated turbidity levels in the Kitimat River.
The advisory is set to remain active until a Drinking Water Officer decides that it can be lifted and the district is working with Northern Health on this matter.
In the meantime, Northern Health is recommending that pregnant women, children, people with weaker immune systems and elderly people only consume boiled water while the advisory is in place.
