The Kitimat RCMP posted a report that detailed what the detachment encountered during the last couple days of March and April Fool’s Day.
One of the listed incidents was based around an Internet fraud case, where a victim reported buying something online and was also offered to buy insurance for the shipping of the item.
The victim sent money for that insurance and when the item didn’t arrive on time, an email requesting more money from the victim was sent.
The case was then reported to the Canadian Anti Fraud Centre and Kitimat RCMP.
