At around the same time as Terrace yesterday evening, Kitimat was holding it’s own inaugural council meeting where they swore in their own new look council.
The list of people being sworn in included returning Mayor Phil Germuth and councillors Mario Feldhoff, Michelle Martins, Ankur Patel, Gerry Leibel, Louise Avery and Graham Pitzel.
The swearing in commenced after Haisla Band Member Jake Duncan and Haisla Nation Hereditary Chief Basil Grant opened the meeting.
Thanks were also given to the two outgoing councillors, Edwin Empinado, who had been serving on council since 2011 and Terry Marleau, who had been a councillor since 2018.
