Kitsukalum Treaty ratification vote taking place this weekend

This weekend will see eligible voters make their decision on if the Kitsumkalum Treaty and self-government constitution will be ratified.

The treaty was signed by the Government of Canada, the Kitsumkalum First Nation and the BC Government last year and after being technically and legally reviewed for a year, the current ratification version of the treaty was finalized.

If the treaty is ratified, it would ensure Kitsumkalum’s Aboriginal rights are recognized, lay out self-governance approaches for the nation, address existing interests on proposed treaty lands and much more.

Voters can cast their choice online, at an in person poll and by telephone.
