LNG Canada has recently been accused of sending letters to residents who live nearby the gas liquefaction and export facility in Kitimat that offered them money.

The alleged reason for the offers was so that the residents would briefly re-locate from their homes located near the facility and also not make any kind of complaint or take legal action against the company is something were to happen to their homes.

LNG Canada was asked to comment on these allegations and while they did confirm that they contacted some residents to offer them relocation support during the facility’s start up activity, they did not elaborate further on what exactly that support would look like.
