First responders recovered the body of a male who drowned in the lagoon in Harrison Hot Springs, B.C., on Saturday.

Emergency crews were first called to the area at 11:20 p.m. Friday, according to the Agassiz RCMP, who say the Harrison Hot Springs Fire Department and search and rescue volunteers also attended to look for the person.

The search continued into the day Saturday and police asked people avoid the Harisson lagoon to leave room for emergency personnel.

In a statement, authorities only described the deceased as male, saying they were withholding further details out of respect for his family.

“We offer our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of the male,” the statement reads.

Police said foul play is not believed to be a factor in the drowning.
