27 July 2026 - In a phone conversation with the BC Wildfire Service, they said the following “We’ve been seeing a decrease in temperatures and an increase in relative humidity in the area. And these wetter and cooler conditions have really continued to moderate fire behavior that we were seeing across the incident”.
We don’t expect any significant fire growth moving forward with the current assigned resources and the forecasted weather coming up. the operations continue to go really smoothly on the ground. We have lots of ground crews working, being supported by aviation fallers, heavy equipment, and altogether they’re making great work. And we feel very confident that things are moving in the right direction”.
The fire has covered 293.48 Hectares and as of July 23, 2026 1:00 pm, the Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine and the Gitwangak First Nation have issued an Evacuation Alert.
