With fewer and further between players in this region compared to others in the Province, the Zone 7 Ringette team typically comes in as a underdog.
But as the head coach of the team, Shelley Potter said, to go to the BC Winter Games and win a medal was big for them since a Northwestern BC team had never medalled at the Games before.
Potter also said that she was very proud of the kids on her team, which were mainly from Terrace and Houston.
One player said that the team was a bit nervous going into their Bronze medal game since they had already lost to the team they were playing the round robin round while others recounted the game being a tight, back and forth affair.
But ultimately, the Zone 7 team was able to hang on for the win and the players expressed their enjoyment of playing in the game while also being thankful for this new core memory that they made.
