Planned pile burnings taking place in Northern BC

The Ministry of Forests and BC Wildfire Service have announced that some pile burnings are set to take place in Northern BC.

These burnings are being done with the purpose of reducing the risk of wildfires and they’re being funded by the Community Resiliency Investment Program.

One burning will be located 33 kilometres north of Burns Lake, another will be 5 kilometres northeast of Houston and the last one will be 3.5 kilometres south of Houston.

Burning will take place on any days with the ideal weather conditions between now and April 30th, with smoke likely being visible to motorists on Highway 16.
