An investigation into the 2024 death of a man on Vancouver Island recently led to an arrest and a second-degree murder charge being laid.

Back on October 6th 2024, Port Hardy RCMP got word about an injured 84 year old man named Real Menard being located on Rupert Street and despite receiving medical attention, he ended up passing away at a hospital.

The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit took charge of the investigation and last Friday on March 6th, their investigation led them to Prince Rupert where, with the help of Prince Rupert’s Officers, they arrested 54-year-old John Jensen.

The BC Prosecution has since approved one count of second-degree murder against Jensen, who remains in Police custody.
