Prince Rupert Mayor Herb Pond and the City’s Chief Administrative Officer Richard Pucci recently led a delegation to the Southeast Alaska Conference in Juneau.
The main reason for their appearance at the conference was so they could talk with Alaska State Senator Bert Stedman about potentially reinstating the Alaska Marine Highway System ferry service between Alaska and Prince Rupert.
That ferry is said to have served as a vital link between communities, while also helping facilitate trading and improve cross-border relations.
While not many details about the actual discussion were revealed, The City of Prince Rupert said that they’re looking forward to having more discussions with Senator Stedman and Alaskan stakeholders in the future.
