Prince Rupert gives update on Boil Water Notice

The City of Prince Rupert recently provided an update on their Boil Water Notice, which they say is still being investigated by their engineer of record.

It was also revealed that the problem was caused by issues with disinfecting chlorine at the end of their water distribution system.

The main area of concern is by the 2nd Avenue Bridge, because it has oversized pipes originally built to serve fish plants that are no longer operational, and they now cause circulation and water quality problems.

Prince Rupert’s engineer of record is working with City Staff on a long term solution, but a timeline on when the notice might be lifted still does not exist.
