Early yesterday morning, Propane was unintentionally released at AltaGas’s Ridley Island Propane Export Terminal and it resulted in a vapour cloud appearing above the facility.
And according to a statement from an AltaGas spokesperson, they were able to find the source of the release and then evacuated all personnel from the site without any injuries.
Within a couple of hours, the release source was able to be contained and isolated, with AltaGas then standing down from their emergency response plan.
The company is still monitoring nearby air quality and since then, they haven’t seen any levels that would be any kind of concern.
