The Province of BC recently released the list of communities that will benefiting from funding provided by the 2025-2026 edition of the BC Air Access Program and several Northern communities appear on said list.
The most notable ones include Smithers, who will get $35,000 to create a facility master plan for their airport, Burns Lake, who is receiving over $802,000 to upgrade their airport’s fuel system and Vanderhoof is set to get over $366,000 to widen their airport’s runway.
Other notable recipients include Dawson Creek receiving over $90,000 to repair their airfield lighting and Prince George being given over $469,000 to upgrade their runway lighting.
