Provincial hockey action kicks off Sunday at the Terrace Sportsplex

The U15 Tier 3 BC hockey championships will bring teams from across the province to compete this week.

Katie Blaxland, who is Media Coordinator for the U15 Tier 3 Championships, filled CFTK-TV news in on the details.

“We have nine teams coming to Terrace. Including our own. And it’s very exciting. A very exciting time. So, we’ll be hosting from March 15th. That’s when the first games will start and the opening ceremonies, and we’ll be hosting until March 18th. So, we expect a lot of people coming to town. ”

The Terrace Kermodes team is coming straight off an overtime banner win;

“Last weekend, the team was in Smithers. And they won the zone. They won two out of three games. It was a very exciting last game there. They went right to overtime and, tied it up with seconds in the game, and won in overtime. So very exciting tournament for the boys to win and bring it home, the banner.”

Games are free of charge to attend, and the community is encouraged to come out and support.

“We’d like to have a full house. That would be great. There will be the games throughout the week. So, Sunday, starting Sunday. All the way till Thursday evening. The opening ceremonies will take place at 7 p.m. on Sunday as well. So, I highly encourage people to come watch that and then roll from there.”
