Over the weekend, the Smithers RCMP got word that there was a break and enter taking place at a local residence.
Responding officers found a suspect named Kyle Hanes sitting in a vehicle outside of that residence when Hanes proceeded to swerve and hit one of the officers with the vehicle, injuring him.
Hanes ended up fleeing the scene but was later located and arrested.
Hanes has since been charged with Break and Enter with Intent, Assaulting a Peace Officer, Resisting or Obstructing a Peace Officer, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Flight from Police.
His next court appearance is set to take place tomorrow.
