A new pilot project is being launched in Smithers by the Dze L K’ant Friendship Centre, thanks to funding from Community Living BC.
This project will see culturally grounded support for Indigenous people with diverse needs get expanded in the community.
Through the centre in Smithers, workers will help Indigenous people with conditions like developmental disabilities navigate housing, health and social services, connect with Elders, culture and community as well as strengthen safety, belonging and stability.
This project is set to run through early 2027 and will also be available in communities such as Prince George, Kamloops, Port Alberni and Surrey.
