An Air Quality Advisory was issued for the community of Smithers earlier today by the Ministry of Environment and Parks.
The Advisory was put into place because of coarse particulate matter levels being elevated in the area, which means that older adults, pregnant women and people with respiratory conditions are being advised to be careful about exposing themselves to that air.
While there isn’t a defined date or time from the Ministry as to when the Advisory could be lifted, their next update on it is said to be coming out tomorrow.
