Towards the end of February, the Smithers RCMP got multiple reports saying that a snowmobile was being driven on the perimeter trail and roadways within Town limits.
Police eventually tried to conduct a traffic stop on the snowmobile, but the driver ended up fleeing on foot and Officers had to track him down and arrest him.
The driver was identified as a man named Ashton Lewis and after finding out that he was bound by a Conditional Sentence Order, the BC Prosecution Service approved a charge against him and he was returned to Police custody after a bail hearing.
