Over the weekend, the Smithers RCMP got word that two vehicles that were parked at McElhanney Consulting Services on 4th Avenue and Queen Street were on fire.
And while Smithers Fire Rescue were able to get on the scene quickly and contain the fires, the cause of the flames are being treated as suspicious and the investigation into what happened is still open.
The belief that the fires may have been caused intentionally stems from local residents reporting that they heard loud banging noises at around the same time that the fires seem to have started.
Those noises are believed to have been caused by the fires and now the Smithers RCMP are asking for anyone with relevant information to the case to come forward.
