The local Terrace area got a heavy dose of snow and rain over the weekend and it looks as if that won’t be changing for at least the rest of the week.
Environment Canada’s weekly forecast predicts a combination of snow, flurries and rain throughout both the next few days and nights with the highs and lows hovering around 0 degrees until the end of the week, when they could drop as low as minus 8 and minus 12 respectively.
While Highway 97 near Smithers has a Winter Storm Warning in effect.
And as for how much snow might appear, snow-forecast.com said that about 6.9 centimetres would likely hit Shames Mountain today after 10 AM.
The website also predicted that more heavy snowfall would follow throughout the rest of this week as well.
The snowfall also led to the City of Terrace reminding residents that they are not allowed to park on the street until April 1st so they don’t get in the way of snowplows.
The City put out another statement saying that their snow removal team was out in full force today.
The poor weather conditions also led to Coast Mountains School District 82 cancelling bus services for Terrace, Thornhill, Hazelton, Kitwanga as well as Kitimat today, but schools remained open
The District currently isn’t sure if the buses will be unavailable tomorrow as well.
