The Terrace Community Foundation is inviting community members to hit the green for a good cause, as it hosts its annual Scramble Golf Tournament—this year dedicated to the memory of one of its most cherished members, Norm Parry.
Norman Howard Parry, who passed away in 2023, devoted more than 35 years as a professional forester in public service and a passionate volunteer in the Terrace community. His legacy of generosity, leadership, and commitment has left a lasting impact on Terrace, and this weekend’s tournament is a celebration of everything he stood for.
The Terrace Community Foundation is an apolitical, philanthropic organization whose purpose is to raise funds and bring donors to the table to build a resilient, resourceful, caring community.
The foundation provides grants to community groups and organizations that cover a very broad spectrum of needs in Terrace and areas that include (but are not limited to) recreation, health, the arts, the environment and education.
The Tournament is scheduled for Sunday June 22, at the Skeena Valley Golf & Country Club. Shotgun starts at 2: p.m. and registration beginning at 1:30 p.m.
Beyond the competition, the tournament serves a deeper purpose: raising funds to support the Terrace Community Foundation’s ongoing initiatives, which help strengthen the local community through grants and partnerships.
Board member Heather Avison shared her excitement about the overwhelming support for this year’s tournament. ‘’ we’re incredibly fortunate to have such strong community backing this year, the generosity from our sponsors has truly elevated this event.’’
According to Avison, this year’s standout sponsors are Silver Tips Signs, Canadian Helicopters-offering a 30-minute scenic flight to few lucky participants through a silent auction -Terrace Community Forest, Chances Terrace, and Community Futures 16/37.
And for those still hoping to join in—there’s still time to sign up. The Foundation is accepting registrations for individuals and teams looking to participate in the event.
Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or simply want to be part of something meaningful, this weekend’s event offers a chance to connect, remember, and give back.
