After the very short public hearing concluded, Terrace City Council had their latest Regular Council Meeting.
One of the first items discussed was the Skeena Valley Guru Nanak Brotherhood Society requesting permission to host a public fireworks display on November 8th, in order to celebrate Diwali, the Festival of Lights.
Council didn’t hesitate to grant the request, citing that this display had happened before and there were no issues with it then.
Another notable part of the meeting saw a presentation of the findings of a feasibility study, determining if the creation of a new skatepark would be possible.
The study determined that the proposed site at Skeenaview Park is a suitable spot for a skatepark and that it’s construction would cost about $1.03 Million.
Both the Mayor and some Councillors did express concern over parking, mentioning that putting parking spots close to the site could be worrisome for child safety.
It was said there’s room at the site to expand parking capacity, but how it plays out remains to be seen.
