March 31—Terrace is set to receive $20,000 and Haida Gwaii is also set to receive $10,000 to boost tourism and celebration of the FIFA world cup 2026.
Haida Gwaii will host celebration events in Daajing Gilds, Masset, Old Masset and Skidegate.
The BC Province is providing 1.7 million dollars to support 32 communities to host local events.
The funding will go towards soccer-themed events like live public match viewings, local performers and food and beverage offerings.
The events will take place between June 11 and July 19 of this year.
The province expects, in all the funded events, the potential estimated attendance of 1 million people.
