In the back half of last week, Prime Minister Mark Carney made an appearance in Terrace to make an announcement about some major projects that his government was planning to put on the fast track to completion.
And during his trip to the City, he also ended up having a discussion with Terrace’s Mayor Sean Bujtas.
Bujtas later revealed more of what the two talked about;
“We really want to be economic drivers for the provincial and federal government, but we cannot leave the municipality of Terrace in the dark. We really are the epicentre of a lot of these major projects, LNG Canada, Cedar LNG, Ksi Lisims, the expansion of the port and all the projects going on in Prince Rupert. So we have to make sure that this doesn’t financially impact the taxpayers of Terrace because the LNG Canada project did, and we can’t have that again.”
Bujtas also said that supporting the government in this endeavour should ultimately be a win for the City and it’s residents and again, reiterated that they refused to be left in the dark on what is happening with those local projects.
