The Terrace Rotary Club is putting on it’s annual Live and Online fundraiser Auction this weekend at the Terrace Sportsplex’s Banquet Room.

The Auction will take place from 5 PM to 10 PM on November 7th and 1 PM to 9 PM on November 8th and this is the 66th year this auction is being held.

Rotary Club member Brian Downie recently spoke with us to provide more details about the auction and what the funds it raises are put towards;

“We have a lot of fun and we raise some very good money for organizations in Terrace, which go towards projects and other things that the community needs. We have around 360 items to auction and we’re already in the pre-bidding period. We’ve gotten $25,000 worth of pre-bids so people are excited by it. We have some great items, if you go on our website or look in the newspaper, you will see the whole range of products that we have.”

Bids will be accepted up until an item comes up for auction and they can be sent in online, via a phone call to 778-634-3501 or directly on the floor at the Sportsplex.

Downie also gave some information on what kind of items they’ll usually get to auction off;

“Businesses will often donate a gift certificate for a restaurant or they’ll give a Safeway or Save-On gift certificate. Other things we’ve got include two really nice salmon fishing rods. We have a couple of diamond pendants, which is very nice jewelry. We have things like camp coolers, camp chairs and services in a business.”

Downie next said that local businesses are always very supportive of the auction and are always eager to help.

Instructions on how to become eligible to bid can be found on the Rotary Auction’s website.
