TERRACE, B.C. – Seniors in Terrace will now have an easier time getting around, thanks to a new transportation service launched by Volunteer Terrace.
On Friday June 20, the organization officially cut the ribbon on a brand-new 10-seater van designed to help seniors who are no longer able to drive. The van will be used to transport elderly residents to essential destinations such as medical appointments, grocery stores, and community gatherings.
Volunteer Terrace says the service is aimed at reducing isolation and helping seniors stay connected to their community.
“Transportation can be a major barrier for many older adults,” said Tracey Davidson, executive director of volunteer Terrace. “This van will make a real difference in their day-to-day lives—allowing them to remain independent and engaged.”
In a press release, volunteer Terrace says “The purchase of the van was made possible with the generous support of Spirit of the North and United Way BC. Volunteer Terrace wishes to thank Spirit of the North and United Way BC for their financial assistance and encouragement in pursuing a vehicle to enable older people to continue to be truly involved in their community ”.
Seniors or caregivers looking to learn more—or book a ride—are encouraged to contact Volunteer Terrace directly.
