The north west region is currently going through a winter storm. The areas hit heavily are Terrace and Kitimat.
The storm started on Sunday at 4:13 pm and will continue till this Tuesday 8:05 am.
Environment Canada has issued a Yellow warning, stating Heavy snowfall followed by a prolonged period of heavy rain. The region will be getting 30 to 40 centimeters of snow followed by 40 to 70 millimeters of rain.
Some issues that residents are facing include, limited visibility, difficulty in driving because of snow accumulation, as well as localized flooding in certain regions.
We advise residents to drive, walk carefully and make sure your gutters are clear.
The weather pattern that is affecting the region is called an Atmosphere River Event.
An atmospheric river is a long, narrow plume in the atmosphere. It transports incredible amounts of moisture. This moisture moves from the tropics toward the poles.
