Youth Terrace Softball Teams achieve great success at BC Provincials

(Terrace Minor Softball Association)

Provincial Championship weekend recently wrapped for BC’s Youth Softball Teams and a pair of local representatives managed to go all the way in their respective age groups.

Terrace’s under 15 boys team was able to conquer their portion of the tournament while teams from the City in the under 13 boys division arguably had even more success as the Terrace Stellar Jays came in 2nd and the Terrace Vikings placed 1st.

And scoring wins like that have created memories that will likely last a lifetime for the young players.

“It felt pretty amazing y’know, one of the best moments of my life, probably my favorite team by far, you know, we played hard, cam out strong and in the final one, all of us were all tired and stuff because we just played a game before that, but we came out strong and came out with the gold medal” - Kaden Howard, Under 13 Terrace Vikings Player

But a victory of that magnitude was also probably quite vindicating for coaches like Kyle Howard, since he is the president of the Terrace Minor Softball Association, meaning that his responsibilities go far beyond just getting his team ready.

“I oversee everything, we have a fairly large board, full of different volunteers, everything from sponsorship to treasurer to register, I oversee all of that basically from the start up of our season, extra planning for training, player development, coach development, different clinics, tournaments and everything in between” - Kyle Howard, Terrace Minor Softball Association President

Another similar tournament is set to take place in Prince George before long and all three of Terrace’s under 13 provincial teams from this year will join forces to create one big team with the hope that they’ll find similar success once again.
