The Ruby Princess cruise ship made its inaugural call to Prince Rupert on May 17 bringing over 3000 passengers with it. It's the ports crown jewel of the 2022 cruise ship schedule.

For many travellers, it's a chance to explore northern british columbia for the first time in over two years since COVID-19 hit, and the sense of eagerness to see what Prince Rupert has to offer could certainly be felt by those getting off the ship to spend the day in town.

"I like the wildlife, hopefully the eagles, maybe some bears and possibly even a whale. I'm here just to explore, you know, along the coastline, see the wildlife I love nature, it's part of us. We're all connected. So I want to explore it uninterrupted," one visitor told CFTK-TV News.

The Ruby Princess will make regular stops in prince rupert about every ten days or so as part of its Alaska itinerary, and its addition to the 2022 cruise ship schedule is expected to help bring a massive increase of over 300 per cent in tourism to the area compared to the previous two years.
