RCMP in Terrace are reminding folks ahead of Halloween to be mindful of safety.

For children, police say to ensure costumes are visible, and use reflective tape. Make sure costumes don't restrict vision and that kids can see well. Don't let any trick-or-treaters go alone, and don't enter houses - wait outside for your treats. Have your treats inspected by an adult before you eat them, and walk on sidewalks and use marked crosswalks.

For drivers, use extra caution, and watch for excited children who may forget pedestrian safety. Reduce speed in residential areas, and pay extra attention when backing out of driveways.

For homeowners, keep the path to your door well lit and free of tripping hazards. And be kind to trick-or-treaters of all ages.

If you notice suspicious acitivity, report it to the Terrace RCMP at 250-638-7400 or call 911 in an emergency.
