The Grey Cup Festival made a stop in Terrace on Thursday, August 15, as it approaches the end of its 75 stop tour over the span of four months. Jelaina Salcedo, the Site Supervisor of the tour, has seen almost every corner of British Columbia since the tours start in mid-may.
“It’s been amazing, we’ve been to almost 50 cities and towns in British Columbia,” she said. “Getting the whole province involved, it’s the first time we’ll be having the Grey Cup in Vancouver on November 17th. It has been really fun visiting the small towns and the big cities.”
With stops in Prince Rupert last Tuesday, the experience up in the Northwest has been quite different compared to the lower mainland for Salcedo and her staff. Much of the tour is set out to promote the Grey Cup final, but getting a full province tour tends to give you a greater understanding on what British Columbia is really like.
“I think exploring all the Indigenous lands and getting to know all of the people and to see where we come from” she described. “It is my first time being up north here in BC, it has been a very eye opening experience. I was actually emotional the other day, because there’s so much to see and our province is so huge.”
The tour still has a couple more weeks left with their last stop in Victoria, before the week long celebration gearing up for the Grey Cup Final
