One thing we can look forwards to in the darkest, coldest days of winter - are the bright lights of the Thornhill Fire Department's parade.
The four-day event starts on December 14th and runs through to the 17th. Between 6 and 9pm, the trucks will be rollling out along the designated routes. Fire Chief Rick Boehm says to watch for the routes on the “Thornhill Fire Department Community Connections” Facebook page.
“We decorate all of the apparatus as seen behind us with Christmas lights. And we tour the community in the fire protection area, which is a very large. So we go all the way east, out to past Usk and all the way west to Kitsumkalum, and then again south to Lakelse Lake.”
The fire department will be collecting non-perishable food items for the food bank,
“We'll collect it, in a chase vehicle, at their street level. We'll also accept food donations here at the fire hall. Should we miss you out at your homes. And donations will be available in the form of e-transfers.”
Cash donations can be made by E-Transfer to: pol@thornhillfire.ca.
Chief Boehm says to make sure you're watching the parade far enough back from the road and in a safe location.
