PRINCE RUPERT, B.C. -- A water quality advisory has been issued for Section 2 of Prince Rupert.
This area consists of the 1400-1900 block of 2nd Avenue West, Graham Avenue, Atlin Avenue, Moresby Avenue, Van Arsdol Street, Alpine Drive, and 12th to 17th Street.
A press release from the city says sensitive users in this area should boil their water for one minute, then cool it and place it in a food grade storage container before using it to drink, wash food or brush teeth.
The city points to heavy rainfall, low flows, oversized piping in that area and the current use of its secondary water source -- which is more prone to water advisories -- as likely contributing factors to the issue.
The city will begin flushing the pipes in the area over the next few days to refresh the system.
The advisory is in effect until further notice.
