PRINCE RUPERT, B.C. -- A Water Quality Advisory has been issued for the District of Kitimat water system due to elevated turbity levels in the Kitimat River.

The District issued the advisory on June 26th. It says that although there is currently no evidence of increased risk to water users, people should boil municipal water first and then let it cool before consuming it as a precautionary measure.

The District is carrying out testing to ensure the safety of the water.

The advisory remains in effect until a Drinking Water Officer says it has been amended or may be rescinded.
