PRINCE RUPERT, B.C. -- The road out of Prince Rupert was blocked this morning after a logging truck crashed at the Port Edward turnoff, spilling its logs onto the road.

RCMP Media Relations Officer Madonna Saunderson said the accident was reported at 5:51 a.m.

The vehicle was heavily damaged and had flipped onto its side. However, Saunderson said she wasn't sure whether or not there were any injuries.

The road was closed for several hours, and multiple vehicles heading east were back up near the city's entrance.

The road eventually re-opened to single-lane alternating traffic around 10:30 a.m, and Drive BC's website says there are no longer any delays around the area where the accident happened.
