PRINCE RUPERT, B.C. -- The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako has issued an evacuation alert for the area northwest of Germansen Landing and southeast of Manson Creek due to the presence of a 1,600-hectare wildfire at Mount Porter that the B.C. Wildfire Dashboard says is out of control.

People in this area, located north of Fort St. James, must locate all family members or co-workers and plan to meet outside the evacuation area should an evacuation be called while separated.

People are also advised to gather essential items, prepare to move any children or persons with mobility challenges, move pets and livestock to a safe area, and arrange transportation for your household members or co-workers in the event of an evacuation order

The regional district also issued an evacuation order on Wednesday night for the area around Bulkley Lake, as well an evacuation alert for the area east of Taman Creek Rd. to west of the Broman Lake Forest Service Road, due to the presence of a 250-hectare wildfire.

Bulkley Nechako Regional District board chair Gerry Thiessen is also recommending that people download the Voyant Alert app so they can be informed about emergency alerts as soon as possible.
